The electrochemical method of enzymatic protein hydrolysates' production out of hydrobionts used for microbiological nutrient media

The paper considers the kinetics of alkaline hydrolysis of N-acetylglucosamine and D-glucosamine depending on temperature and reagents' concentration. The mathematical model of hydrolysis has been proposed, velocity constants and the energy of reaction activation have been calculated.

Multilevel morphophysiological investigations of the brown algae (the Kola Bay, Barents Sea)

Researches of the lake Umbozero have been carried out with the purpose of assessment of biogeochemical features of the chalcophile elements distribution in water and sediments and assessment of geoecological state of the lake. In distribution of Pb and Cd contents in the water column the superficial and near-bottom maximum has been found out. The average concentrations of Pb and Cd in the water column of the lake Umbozero were more than the average value for water of the taiga zone lakes. Pollution of the lake Umbozero led to increase of concentration in superficial layers of sediments of all investigated chalcophile elements.

Improving the technology of glucosamine production from crabmeat chitin

The influence of preliminary acetylated chitin on output of D(+)-Glucosamine hydrochloride has been shown. Mechanism of chitin degradation and the mathematical model adequately describing this process have been proposed. The technology of glucosamine hydrochloride production from preliminary acetylated crab chitin has been improved.

Application of ultrafiltration process for purification of chondroitin sulfate extracted from marine hydrobionts

The technology of purification of the chondroitin sulfate from low molecular weight protein contaminants using ultrafiltration process has been worked out. Using polyelectrolyte swelling effect in a solution of chondroitin sulfate, and the separation of contaminants on the membranes makes it possible to obtain demineralized polysaccharide with a given range of molecular weight and a high degree of purification from protein and amino acids impurities.

Chorda filum (L.) Lamour. (Phaeophyta) as a perspective species for mariculture in the Barents and White Seas

The growth of brown alga Chorda filum in the Barents and White Seas has been investigated. The opportunity of using this species in mariculture due to high growth intensity, short life cycle and simple reproduction as primary elements of species biology has been discussed. It is possible to use Chorda in culture together with Mytilus edulis and Laminaria saccharina.

Macroalgae in the biological monitoring of marine coastal ecosystems

The structural and functional indicators of littoral phytocenosis of the Pechenga bay have been investigated. The bay was exposed to anthropogenic influence of household and port drains, including oil hydrocarbons for a long time. The research has shown efficiency of application of the multiple parameter' approach for drawing up an estimation of ecological conditions of the water area.

Morphofunctional parameters of Fucus vesiculosus in conditions of the Kola Bay

Morphofunctional features of brown algae in the Kola Bay – length, weight, surface area, specific surface, specific length – have been investigated. It has been found that the increase of environmental pollution is accompanied by some diminishment of seaweed. The largest plants of Fucus vesiculosus have been found in the central part of the Kola Bay. Data for 1999 and 2009 have reflected the stability and rather successful state of fucoid’s algae in the Kola Bay.

Seaweeds from the area of the Ledyanaya Havan Inlet (Novaya Zemlya, Northern Island, Kara Sea)

During expedition works of AARI and PINRO survey research of the coastal zone on the northeast extremity of Island Northern of the archipelago Novaya Zemlya has been carried out. On all extent of the surveyed part of the tidal zone, it has appeared absolutely lifeless and deprived both seaweeds and macrozoobenthos. The storm emissions of subtidal seaweeds have been found out near the water's edge. As a result of processing of the collected algae 28 species have been identified: 11 species of red algae, 15 species of brown algae and 2 species of green one. The met kinds are presented by plants of the small size. All found out species were marked earlier for the Kara Sea and the northeast coast of Novaya Zemlya.
